This thread is mostly for Cody Casida and Matthew Williams. If you think your character could fit into a spot, feel free.[/i]
The good scientist smiled as he saw a small sprout of a new plant. Well while cross pollination was a very easy practise the Canadian rather enjoyed it. There was nothing more satisfying then proving Mendel's work. This, he decided, will make him happy. This may just be the best blend yet.
Matthew tended to the rest of his plants and went on with his day. When he returned from his other duties the male smiled at his beautiful plants. They were his babies, his dear. The kind doctor stepped into his room and over to his tea plants. He took some of the leaves near the sprouts he founded earlier but left enough for them to continue the cycle of pollination and reproduction. The Canadian then took the leaves over to the kitchenette (well sink and set of tea pots and cups.) opting to make enough tea for two.
He placed the pot on a Bunsen Burner, lighting the fire beneath it. The short man pulled free his caller and pulled Cody up for a face to face call.
"Hey, it's tea time."

What a -boring- day it was! It wasn't even like it was because the day had been 'all work and no play', either. The exact opposite, in fact! There was absolutely -nothing- to do. Arthur had been strangely undemanding today. Not to mention that he had just come back from exploring one of the many potential colonization areas in Sector 771.6-B; so it wasn’t like he had a new hands-on mission to psych himself up for anytime soon. The explorer had been so bored that he had gone and finished all of his paperwork early; and he was always one to hand in papers late.
In short, Cody had wished that he had called in sick today.
He sighed softly, leaning back in his chair and staring up at the stippled ceiling of his office. He contemplated, briefly, the idea of counting all of the little points as a last-resort to pass the time. Part of him wondered why he even had an office, to begin with. He was barely in it, with the exception of days like today. Not that the AFN Official was complaining. It was a great place to hide for the occasional afternoon nap (now if only he could will himself to sleep this moment and waste some time doing that).
In addition, it allowed him to have a genetically-modified eucalyptus tree in the corner for Joey to eat from and sleep within. The modified genetics of the tree only really altered its adult size; allowing it to remain small enough to keep in the office, but sturdy enough to hold the weight of the man’s beloved companion. Honestly, who needed a dog when you could have an alien koala? Much more interesting.
Cody was just about ready to attempt to sneak out of work early when he felt a soft buzzing in his breast pocket. He looked down curiously, reaching into the pocket to pull out his .doc slate. Due to being in a rather ‘active’ field, he had requested that a caller application be added to his .doc slate; instead of having to carry around two or more pieces of electronic equipment on missions. Luckily, that request had gone through without much of a fuss. The self-claimed Aussie answered it, feeling a smile tug at the corners of his mouth when he saw just who exactly was calling.
“G’day, mate! Hm? Tea time? Oh, sure!~ I’ll be right there!”
What a glorious change of circumstances, this was! Finally, something to cease his boredom. Almost as soon as the conversation began, Cody had ended it; slipping his .doc slate back into his pocket before leaping out of his chair. He stopped at the door for a moment, looking back at the sleeping koala in that tree of his. He would be fine where he was, Cody decided. There was no real reason to wake him up.
With that, the explorer left his office and headed down the halls in a ‘slight’ rush until he reached the scientist’s door. He knocked once to announce his arrival, then patiently awaited to be welcomed inside.

"Do-....Well then, rude." Matthew huffed as he stroked the leaf of one of his plants. He hated that damned bear of Cody's and wanted to tell him to leave that dreaded thing in his room, or wherever he was at the time. With hope, he would leave it behind.
"Open." He hummed, setting the tea pot and cups out for them. The door opened on its own, Kuma looking up and giving a sleepy greeting before shuffling under the lab table for more sleep and to nibble at Matt's pants in an attempt to get affection from his master. The blonde smiled at his guest and pointed to the seat across from him.
"I'm happy you didn't bring that thing with you." He admitted and poured the man a cup.
