Player Name: Most people by now call me Cody or Codikins on here.
Character: Lithuania
Name: Toris Laurinaitis
Age: 24
Affiliation: AFN
Occupation and/or Rank: Undersecretary in Charge of Intake for Division V
Birthplace: Lithuania, Earth
Appearance: Toris has an average height of 5’8”. In fact, ‘average’ is probably the best way to describe his everyday appearance. When you see him, nothing really stands out. His hair is medium-length, brown, and has a slight wave effect to it. When working, it is usually put in a small ponytail (even though his bangs never seem to want to stay in it). The Lithuanian’s eyes are of a light green hue. When not in his AFN uniform, he usually can be seen wearing some form of pant with a loose dress shirt of sorts. Mind you, just because he looks average does not mean he’s not hiding something underneath the clothing that he wears. Something that would stand out as something abnormal is the numerous scars that run down and across Toris’ back; however, he is very careful to hide them. He can count the number of people who know about them on a single hand.
Personality: Toris is a very quiet and somewhat skittish person by nature, resulting in him having a bit of a stammer (not a stutter) when he gets nervous. He often prefers to listen to others than speak about himself. This isn’t because Toris does not like to talk about his interests. He has no problem with sharing most things about himself, when someone asks. When it comes to his personal problems, he rarely vents to others simply because he does not feel the need to unnecessarily bombard them with his feelings. Mind you, if someone happened to notice and ask the Division V agent what was wrong, most of the time he would be willing to talk a little bit about it. He simply just isn’t one to talk about himself unless another person shows a genuine interest.
That being said, Toris is a fantastic listener. If you ever have a problem or need to vent, he’s the man to go to. He is considerate and caring, often placing others’ needs before his own. The agent also has a knack for keeping secrets to himself: one of the things that landed him his current position in the AFN. Overall, he is a very likable person who is fairly easy to get along with. Unless you hurt himself or someone he thinks did not deserve such treatment. Despite being a tad bit skittish, he is not afraid to stand up for what he believes is right.
He is generally someone who tries to press on with his life and not let the negative things get in the way of it. However, they sometimes get the better of him. Toris can, on occasion, go through small waves of depression. Nonetheless, he tries to press on and look forward to the next day; not liking to dwell on those moments. Since his mother is clinically depressed, he often worries about himself having the same issue (it is genetic, after all); but he is too afraid to see anyone about it.
AU History: If asked about his past, Toris will tell you that his childhood was fairly normal and just plain uneventful. While it’s true that it may not have been an exciting childhood, normal and uneventful are not the right words to describe it all.
Toris’ family growing up consisted of himself, his mother and father, and his two younger brothers. They lived in poverty, only having just enough money to cover the essential costs of living. His father hated his job and the life he was living, having a distant relationship with his family and a string of lovers on the side. His mother got through their broken marriage by denying these facts the best that she could, although she couldn’t cope with the situation very well. She was a very depressed woman, sometimes not even getting out of bed until Toris intervened and tried to get her motivated. Due to this, the boy learned how to cook, clean, and generally care for the house and his brothers (the first meal he learned to make was noodles) at a very young age. The only comfort the brunette had was the time he spent with his brothers, as the three of them were and still are incredibly close.
Shortly after Toris turned thirteen, his father left them. He had been saving up money in secret and left the moment he had enough to get out. This turn of events completely shattered the boy’s mother. The night after his father left was the first time she struck him. Things escalated from there and, within a year, he was quite used to the beatings. He will never forget this period of time in his life, as it was permanently ingrained on him via the scars that still run across his back. Not that he ever truly blamed her for her actions. He had understood early on that his mother was unstable. He knew she just was not able to cope. Besides, he preferred him to receive the brunt of her despair instead of his brothers.
A week before his eighteenth birthday, the boy’s mother was placed in a home for the mentally ill after a near-successful suicide attempt that required a call for an ambulance and a hospital stay for the injuries. Since Toris was so close to becoming of legal age, he and his brothers were able to stay together; with the brunette as their legal guardian.
In an attempt to help them get a better life, Toris soon after applied to the AFN. Due to his high grades and interest in certain areas of study, he received an offer to work as a potential recruit for the AFN for three years. While this offer only allowed him a room in the bunking quarters of the AFN, it also allowed for his two younger brothers to stay in their current home and not be separated; as long as Toris always sent a certain amount of his monthly paycheck to them to get by. Toris was a little disheartened to be separated from his brothers, but this job would be able to support them. He accepted the offer almost instantly.
It was shortly after he joined the AFN that he met Feliks: a fellow recruit. Despite their varying personalities, they got along and quickly became close friends. After the three-year program, Toris’ efforts had paid off. He had certainly pleased someone higher up at some point with his knack for keeping secrets and intense focus on organization. He was made the Undersecretary in Charge of Intake for the mysterious Division V. In simple terms, he organized most, if not all, of the information that ran through the Division.
Since his three-year program was completed, he had to find an apartment to live in. It was only natural that he and Feliks found one together. It has been three years since then. Toris and Feliks are still roommates. The Division V officer still sends his brothers money, and calls them every day. He’s been slowly trying to save up, hoping to one day be able to afford for his brothers to come live with him.
Equipment: A standard .doc slate.
Any other info: Toris has a bit of a fascination with antique swords. He aspires to one day buy one and learn to use it, when he has enough money.
(Also, the parts with Feliks were discussed with the Poland that reserved a couple of days ago. We plotted that part together, yes.)
