Player Name: Nyo
Character: New Zealand
Name: Zoe Scully
Age: 24
Affiliation: AFN
Occupation and/or Rank:Division of Exploration and Discovery-Scientist
Birthplace: Aotearoa 1219, a New Zealandic Colony
Appearance:
Appearance wise Zoe is not the most intimidating person. She’s a slight woman and measures out to a little less than five feet and four inches tall. Somewhat androgynous in appearance, the scientist is frequently mistaken for a man. Sandy blonde hair is kept in a short bob and more often than not a curl has been absent mindedly twisted into one side. A rather thick pair of eyebrows reside on her face underneath which are a pair of green eyes. Practical, easy to work in clothes are favorites of hers. Dressing in drab colors is something of a habit and she owns way more khaki than she likes to admit to.
Personality:Zoe is something of a recluse, generally preferring the company of animals to that of people. Outside of her lab she is rather soft spoken but something of a cynic and a bit sarcastic as well. A bit of an awkward duck, she is somewhat nervous around people she doesn’t know and chooses to socialize frequently with very few people. She shows considerably more enthusiasm for things inside her lab. Work is something the scientist is very focused on and Zoe can get a little obsessive about her projects. Talking and working at high speeds make her something of a nuisance to co-workers-though working with others isn’t one of her strong points as she considers them little help, and can be quite bossy.
AU History: The child of two bio-chemist, Zoe was born on a planet that her parents native country New Zealand was attempting to colonize. The nation was attempting to establish a farming colony by breeding sheep with a similar local creature. Unfortunately this worked all too well. Before long, not only the settlement, but the entire planet was overrun with the hybrids. The sheep were menaces. Sturdy and well adapted to the environment, they ate other cattle and crops, attacked any humans that dared get near and made general nuisances of themselves.
People quickly started moving away, and the family was set to the task of decreasing the population of the creatures they’d helped create. Most of Zoe's childhood was spent assisting in catching, sterilizing and relocating the hybrid sheep in an attempt to slow down their reproduction rate. By the time she was ten almost all of the other settlers had left, and it had been decided that the only way to get rid of the sheep was to kill them.
Groups of the sheep's few natural predators were gathered up. These dangerous animals became like pet to the family as they were experimented on. New, more durable and disease resistant versions of these predators were released into the wild. The number of hybrid sheep dropped dramatically and everyone was sure that the problem had been solved. The colony was re-opened and the trio suddenly found themselves surrounded by more people than they'd seen in years, something that Zoe found made her extremely uncomfortable.
The now sixteen year old became reclusive, spending her time in her parents lab or out in the field studying the various plant and animal species in the area. And then, a new strain of the sheep population began appearing. The evolved sheep had developed camouflage, able to change color at will, they were also much, much more viscous. The sheep's hunters were no longer able to keep them from spreading. A virus was developed to get rid of them. Hundreds of the sheep were gathered, and all but one succumbed to the illness.
The odd sheep became Zoe's personal project. Test after test was run on it, but she could never quite discover what made the sheep different. The one sheep was declared a fluke and the virus was released, successfully killing off about eighty percent of the sheep population. The animals still outnumbered the humans, but were now manageable. By this time she'd become quite fond of the sheep, named it Mackenzie (Mack for short), and it became her constant companion.
When she was 19 she met a friend of her parents. A fellow chemist, this family friend worked for the AFN. Rather impressed with the woman, it didn't take her long to recruit Zoe.
Equipment:One sheep, a small computer and several syringes of tranquilizer (mainly for the aforementioned sheep).
