((Otherwise known as Common Law Marriage GET. This is a semi-closed/open thread between Alfred and Cody. The closed parts will be when Alfred and Cody are in the apartment. The open parts are when they are out in public. Also, this takes place probably a good bit after the Armed Division Training) and the Science thread.)) Ever since he became a soldier, Alfred learned that space was something he couldn't take for granted. He was given so little of it during his training years, having to share with many other fellows-in-arms and given a small top bunk in the small barrack. Alfred knew better than to assume that space was a given for him, despite coming from a country that said that he had a right to pursue happiness, and open spaces were what made him happy. However, when he'd received his promotion to Lt. Col., he'd been given a fairly large apartment that had a beautiful view of the galaxy. Stars illuminated the apartment from the wall of glass, and it made Alfred feel as though he could reach out and touch the universe. He had tried several times before to no avail. But, he loved his apartment, all with sparse furniture, homey bedroom with his stuffed crocodile, Kroko, and enough room for two people. Two people... One more person besides him to fill the lonely, cold spaces. And that was what led Alfred to his current predicament of rushing around his soon-to-be two bedroom apartment, picking up clothes, empty Chinese take out boxes, important papers, and putting them all in their proper places. His desk was neat and clean (mostly), his clothes were all in the laundry hamper, his bed was made, and, for the most part, he could say the damn room was clean. Usually, Alfred wouldn't have cared, but, if there was anything one of his father's girlfriends had taught him, it was that if he had guests/friends/potential roommates coming over, he had to clean up. Which he did and he was proud of himself for it. Grinning at the now-straightened apartment, he put his hands on his hips and sighed, chucking one last ball of garbage into the trashcan. Now, to wait until his new roommate arrived. He couldn't wait.

If you thought regular cockroaches were ugly, sick, disgusting insects, then you knew nothing about space cockroaches. A stereotypical concept, it was, but still all too real. This strand of cockroach was anything but better to handle than the regular, Earth version. Venomous, destructive, and disease-ridden, these vermin are almost impossible to kill and eat everything in sight. The only thing known to kill these insects being a deadly neurotoxin specifically designed for their kind, it is required that a 20 mile radius (at least) be given around the infiltrated building / area.
The inevitable bouncing that came from the bus’ lack of shocks jostled Cody out of his sleep. He sat upright, stretching his arms upwards as high as he could while a small yawn escaped. Green hues glanced down at a small suitcase in the seat beside him, Joey sitting on top of it and now looking up to meet him with his own red hues. Oh, how relieved the explorer was that he was at work pulling an all-nighter when the outbreak of space cockroaches occurred in the apartment building he was living in. However, despite being alive, the fact that he was at work at the time meant that he was unable to save any of his belongings before they closed off the area and destroyed it. So now, the male only had an AFN uniform, a few changes of clothing, his weapons, his .doc slate, and an alien-marsupial to his name.
Both hands were raised to rub weary eyes before Cody glanced out the window at the gray blurs of buildings and streets that they were passing by. By the looks of it, they were almost at their destination. After the outbreak, Cody slept during the night in his office for about a week. However, once Alfred F. Jones heard about his predicament, he had insisted that Cody move in with him. To be completely honest, Cody was elated when the opportunity arose, and was still looking forward to moving in with the other. After that day of armed division training, the two had formed a little bit of a friendship. The Australian loved spending time with friends, so what a better idea than this?
The bus slowed to a stop just outside of a rather large and fancy looking apartment building. Joey was picked up and slung over the explorer’s shoulder, giving the pet a chance to sneak back into Cody’s hat. He stood up, picked up his small suitcase, and got off of the bus. He took a moment to look at the outside of his new home before walking in.
AFN and regular IDs, along with an apartment key given by Alfred himself earlier were shown to the security guards, giving the male entrance to the building. One quick elevator trip up later, he was on the right floor and walking down the halls in search of the right room. He eventually found it, and looked at his key to make sure the numbers matched. He gripped the key tightly in his palm until it was placed back in his pocket. This is it... In case there were security measures taken on the other side of the door, he decided to knock first. Thus, a hand was raised and knuckles rapped against the door three times.
This is going to be aces!

Knock... knock... knock...
"Oh, shi-!" Alfred cursed, rising so suddenly and forgetting that he was under his coffee table reaching for a wayward piece of trash that he hit his head hard with a bang and a yell. Groaning in pain, and gently rubbing the sore as he carefully crawled backwards and stood up, holding the trash in his free hand to quickly rush to the garbage to discard it before running to the door.
"I'm coming! Hold on!"
Glancing behind him quickly, he surveyed his living room and kitchen, making sure everything was decent. All the trash was thrown away, the chairs and couch were straightened, everything had been dusted (he felt proud of himself for that one)... He figured it was done, and thanked his father's girlfriends for all of their lessons and lectures, even though at the time, he hadn't given much of a care for them.
Then, he glanced down, catching sight of his disheveled appearance before sighing. Oh, well, he had been cleaning. Shrugging, he pressed the buttons on the keypad next to the door before a chime rang almost mutely, and the doors hissed open, revealing his new roommate.
Grinning ear-to-ear, Alfred stepped in front of Cody, leaning forward slightly to get a good look at the Science Division officer. "Howdy, roomie~!"

(I LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!!! Short post = short... but I didn't wanna assume the layout of the apartment... ;A; Sorry! *is whacked*)
A somewhat confused look was given to no one in particular, as the first thing he heard after knocking was some sort of bang and a yelp. What exactly was Alfred doing in there…? His mind was denied the time to imagine an endless amount of possibilities by the American’s voice reaching him through the doorway.
"I'm coming! Hold on!"
Cody waited patiently at the door, and once it opened, he matched the other’s grin with one of his own. He gave only the amount of time it took for him to put down his suitcase for Alfred to lean in and study him before pulling him into a tight hug.
“G’day mate!”
He let the other out of the embrace after a few moments and looked him over, still smiling with his hands on the other’s shoulders. This is my roommate. This bloke gave me a place to stay. He chuckled a little, patting one of the Lieutenant’s shoulders before turning him around and nudging him inside via gently pushing his back. “Well, come on mate! Show me where I’m living, yea?” He laughed as he did this, being playful. He waited for Alfred to go back inside before picking up his suitcase and following suite.
(Fyi, bloke isn't really a negative term... XD It sounds like it... but no. *is whacked again*)

((I feel like I messed up on this one ;A;))
Probably what Alfred was expecting the least was being hugged by the Aussie, but all the same, he smiled, understanding that the other man was extremely friendly, all things considered. In fact, it was hearing good things and having a few personal encounters himself that led Alfred to offer his apartment to Cody.
"H-hey, yourself," he laughed, patting Cody's back until he was released. It was this up-close situation that helped the Lt. Colonel realize that Cody had really green eyes, green eyes similar to someone, someone he couldn't quite place, but, he was sure it wasn't all that important.
Cody patting him on his shoulder knocked him out of his thoughts, but he didn't even have a moment to recalibrate when he was being turned around and pushed inside. Managing to hear Cody say something about showing him around while the explorer picked up his suitcase, Alfred waited, staring out of the glass wall into the stars before grinning at his new roommate.
"This is the living room," he said while spanning his arm about the area, decked with a couch and two recliners, a nice multi-tasking glass coffee table, and a few floral furnishings that had come with the apartment. Though, Alfred would be quick to admit he loved the glass wall to see out into the final frontier the most.
